Glenn grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago, moved to Oregon in 1983 to attend University of Portland, and never looked back. He has over 30 years of experience that span the business, nonprofit, government, and faith-based sectors. For roughly 11 years, Glenn worked as a software developer, implementation team leader, and business development executive on behalf of several multi-national corporations. He spent another 12 years working in the government, nonprofit, and business sectors to promote sustainability and economic development in green building and clean technology. The remainder of his career has been in service to the nonprofit, education, and faith communities as a coordinator and facilitator of human services. Glenn's unique set of skills and diverse experience makes him well-suited for the role of VAN's Executive Director.
His interests are as varied as his career, some of which are choral singing, rowing, camping, hiking, and yoga. He's certified to teach the latter. Keeping tabs on his two daughters is also a favorite volunteer pastime.
Director of Community Engagement
Fernanda joins VAN with extensive cross-cultural knowledge, program management experience, and administrative skills. Born and raised in Ecuador, she completed an Associate’s Degree before joining an international NGO where she discovered her passion for service, traveling to over 30 countries and providing support to people in desperate need. Upon return to Ecuador, she co-founded a nonprofit that focused on poverty alleviation.
In 2009, Fernanda uprooted herself once again to move to Oregon, and while adapting to this new environment, immersed herself in the field of intercultural communications. As a community volunteer and paid professional with various organizations, including the City of Hillsboro, she witnessed many underserved people in her own backyard. Most recently, Fernanda was a Program Coordinator for Medical Teams International focused on SE Asia. Her experiences, both locally and abroad, have deepened her commitment to social justice and a desire to help create a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive world.
Fernanda earned a BA in Project Management from George Fox University, and in December 2017, she and her husband welcomed into this world their daughter Sofia.
