In 2005 and 2006 the Vision Action Network brought together public, private and non-profit health care providers in Washington County to tackle the issue of health care access.  After an exhaustive planning process, Project Access Washington County (PAWC) was created.  PAWC is a nationally replicated model that coordinates volunteer physician efforts to treat the neediest in our community and began enrolling patients in April 2008.

Project Access is not an insurance program, nor is it an entitlement program. There are strict requirements for patients participating in the program, and all patients are screened individually by PAWC Staff for eligibility. Working with a Care Coordinator for any needed support, patient’s interaction with physicians and other health care professionals is courteous, timely, and most of all, successful.

Project Access is a program of the Essential health Clinic and works in collaboration with the following partners: Kaiser-Permanente, Legacy Health System, Pacific University, Providence Health System, Tuality Health Alliance, Tuality Healthcare, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, Washington County Health and Human Services.
