Aging Initiative

 Coordinating Sponsors: Washington County
Facilitating Sponsors: United Way of the Columbia-Willamette
Initiating Sponsors: Kaiser Permanente
Focused on preparing as a community for the aging of baby boomers, VAN kicked off its Aging Initiative in the Fall of 2011 with a summit, co-convened with Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services, Preparing for the Aging Boom in Washington County. Initial information was gathered on current needs and gaps in our service delivery system, as well as opportunities that should be considered (Click here for summit notes).
In 2012, VAN spent time delving even deeper into this issue area. Guided by a Steering Committee, VAN conducted research on trends, demographics, budgets and organizational connections.
On September 21, 2012, VAN hosted a second summit, Preparing for the Aging Boom in Washington County II: Moving into Action! Research results were shared and participants developed recommendations for action.
Please click here for more information about what was presented at the summit, the recommendations that came from the summit and the action plan for moving forward.
